Mick Fogerty: taking over at St Anne’s
SCHOOL buddies and team-mates at junior and senior level, Mick Fogerty and Chris Hough will be pitting their wits against one other when the 2014 National Conference League Division Two season gets under way in March.
While Hough is settling in at Waterhead, Fogerty is the new man in charge of Oldham St Anne’s, having taken over from Chris Deakin.
Next season’s fixtures at Peach Road and Higginshaw Road are sure to attract plenty of banter between two men whose rugby league careers have for so long trod a similar path.
“I haven’t spoken to Chris for a while, but I’m sure we’ll catch up soon,” said Fogerty.
“We played together in the juniors at Waterhead.”
Fogerty spent three years at Keighley, two at Oldham and one at Rochdale — and he is hoping he can use that know-how to maintain the improvement of Saints.
At 32, he has no plans to hang up his boots
