Crow on high after Beckett’s hat-trick

FOOTBALL: CARRION Crow, inspired by Callum Beckett’s hat-trick, emerged victorious in the battle of the top two teams in the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League David Giblin Division One.
They moved three points clear at the summit after a thrilling 5-4 success at Limeside Athletic.
Gareth Connor and Scott Edge were Crow’s other marksmen.
Hot-shot Mike King was among the goals as Oldham GPO swept aside The Kenyon 12-3.
He struck half-a-dozen times and Thomas Siwka hit four in the one-side win.
Limeside King George have risen to the top of the Jack Abbott Premier Division.
They leapfrogged Rifle Range ‘A’ after a 3-0 win at Failsworth Athletic. Wayne Ware, Grant Marshall and Joe Heap got the goals.
Trap Inn have stretched their advantage to nine points in Martin Buckley Division Two after a 4-2 defeat of All Stars.
Nearest challengers Oldham Tigers, despite a treble from Ryan Higginson, slipped up, losing 6-4 at home to White Hart.
UPPERMILL slipped to a 6-2 defeat at Berry Brow in Division One of the Huddersfield and District League.
Dan Mills and Phil Austin scored the consolation goals.
In the Richardson Cup, Chris Barlow, Matt Partington, Danny Fox and Chris Taylor were on the mark for Uppermill’s ‘A’ team, but their efforts were in vain as they lost 5-4 to their Meltham Athletic counterparts.
