Mossley slide to derby reverse

Non-league football: MOSSLEY slipped to an eighth straight defeat at Curzon Ashton yesterday - but produced a gutsy, much-improved performance in a 2-1 Tameside derby defeat.
John Flanagan’s Curzon have been in terrific form all season – one in which they’ve lost only once so far.
Matt Warburton struck either side of the half-hour mark for new divisional leaders Curzon, and prospects looked bleak for the Lilywhites after the match had eventually been given the go-ahead after surviving a couple of pitch inspections.
But Mossley’s joint-managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison will have been encouraged by their team’s effort in the second half as Dougie Carroll’s 58th-minute spot-kick reduced the arrears.
Mossley didn’t manage to grab an equaliser, but there will be renewed hope in the camp that their dismal run of defeats will soon be checked.
Mossley host Radcliffe Borough on Saturday.
