ROYTON CC followers can expect fireworks this summer if the Big Bash exploits of their professional, Ben Dunk, are anything to go by.
The Australian helped Royton to promotion from the Lake Garage CLL’s Championship last season and will return to the Paddock in 2014 - having smashed the Big Bash League record for the fastest 50 in the history of the competition.
Dunk hit 50 off only 20 deliveries on his way to a 33-ball 67 (five fours and four sixes) as the Hobart Hurricanes successfully chased down Brisbane Heat’s 209 for three off 20 overs.
Dunk was in equally-spectacular form in an earlier fixture against Sydney Thunder.
He crashed 96 off 54 balls, including eight fours and five sixes, in Hobart’s 167 for five.
Thunder were bowled out for 94 in reply.
