ANGLING:
DAVE Holland has an incredible record at Old Hough Farm Fishery, and the Tri-Cast Highfield man enhanced it with yet another win at this fish-filled complex.
For the match, on Upper Benbo Lake, Holland used bread at 14 metres for better-stamp carp that weighed in at 29lb 11oz.
Tri-Cast team-mate James Cantello was second, with bread tempting 22lb 5oz of carp on the same method.
Cantello again made the frame in the open match at Old Hough Fishery two days later.
He decided on bread tight across for the first three hours, but the last two were virtually fishless and he had to settle for a second-best bag of 17lb 4oz.
Adam Jones claimed top honours as his maggot tight over attracted 17lb 15oz of mostly silvers. Mal Dawes (Drennan) was third with 15lb 7oz.
A SHARP frost and a temperature of -5c hit weights in the Slaithwaite pairs match on Sparth Reservoir. Neil Burrows (Slaithwaite AC) was the winner. Using bloodworm over joker at 12 metres, he tempted roach to 4oz in a 2lb 10oz net.
In second place using an almost identical approach, Tim Noone had roach to 3oz in a 2lb 3oz catch.
SIMON Walton, of Matrix Halifax, won the latest open match on the Morrisons length of the Rochdale Canal in Chadderton.
And he had more reasons to celebrate. Being the only angler to catch — he landed a perch — he took home winnings totalling £100!
