MOSSLEY’S shocking run of form in the Evo-Stik Division One North continued with a 6-2 thumping at Salford City.
The Lilywhites were in contention at just 3-2 behind at the interval, but a second-half collapse saw them slide to a 10th defeat in 11 games.
Rio Ahmadi bagged the first of his superb four-goal haul after five minutes, before Wayne Welbeck evened it up midway through the first period.
Ahmadi and Mark Battersby fired Salford 3-1 clear, only for Richard Bennett’s strike on the stroke of half-time to reduce the deficit.
The hosts cut loose in the second half, with Ahmadi adding two more goals and Battersby a sixth as the Lilywhites crumbled.
Teenage defender Matt Wilkinson remained an unused substitute for Mossley at Moor Lane after he signed for the club 24 hours earlier.
Mossley return to action on Saturday as they host Harrogate Railway Athletic.
BOTH Chadderton and Oldham Boro’s North-West Counties League First Division fixtures – against Hanley Town and Holker Old Boys respectively – were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
