RUGBY UNION:
Trafford MV 1sts 34, Oldham 1sts 21
HAVING beaten Trafford in a North Lancashire Division One fixture earlier this season, Oldham were in confident mood.
But the hosts who grabbed the initiative and established an early lead they were never to surrender.
Oldham were without the injured Joe Hesse and, with Rob Froggatt a late absentee, Rhys Jones was called up from the second team and Tony Bergin played his first game of the season, 22 years after making his debut.
A penalty, followed by a converted try, left Oldham 10-0 down, and worse was to come when Trafford scored and converted for a second time.
Oldham bounced back when Jordan Green outpaced the home defence and passed for the supporting Phil Graham to finish under the posts. Alex Jobson converted to make it 7-17.
After the break the hosts regained control with a pushover try and another converted touchdown..
Oldham impressed for long periods and could easily have won had the breaks gone their way.
