Non-league:

JOINT-manager Peter Band is determined to put on as brave a face as possible despite Mossley’s nightmare injury list.

The Lilywhites suffered their worst defeat in more than three years last weekend when they lost 6-2 at Salford City – their 10th loss in 11 games.

An already-depleted squad has since lost forwards Wayne Welbeck and Dougie Carroll to ankle injuries ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Harrogate Railway Athletic, so they join goalkeeper Russ Saunders, Charlie Anderson, Ryan Marley, James Blair, Simon Gallanders, John Bennett and Sam Hind on the sick list.

Midfielder Dean Warburton serves the last of a three-game suspension tomorrow, while Nantwich Town has issued seven days notice of an approach for wing-man Luke McCarthy, so he looks set to leave next week.

These would appear to be worrying times for Mossley, but Band refuses to be too downhearted: “It’s a joke really. We’re struggling to get a team out at the moment. We have to keep plugging away though.

“If the available players can’t make a difference then we’ll just have to bring in more new faces.”

Two newcomers look set to make their Mossley bow against Harrogate. Full-back and former Manchester United junior Matt Wilkinson has looked impressive in training, while winger Martin Cosgrave has been signed from Bacup.

CHADDERTON host in-form Formby tomorrow in the North-West Counties League First Division.

The second-placed Merseysiders have won their last five games, but Chaddy – who are eighth – have a full squad available.

Joint-boss Mark Cook said: “Confidence is high in our squad, so we’re looking forward to taking on a really good Formby side.
