The pitch cut-up in the second half, and it was Hollinwood who made a much better job of controlling the greasy ball. Gareth Brindley extended the lead with his side’s third try of the afternoon, which was converted, but Wakefield were not done with and went in again. With the goal added, the difference was a mere two points.
It needed a calm head to see Hollinwood across the finishing line, and up stepped Gorey to kick a penalty from the half-way line.
Gorey went close with another effort, with the ball landing on the crossbar and bouncing back into play.
Wakefield picked up possession, but only had to run the set of six tackles before the final whistle.
