OLDHAM remain on course to retain their Lancashire GMC Super Eight Elite League title after a 7-3 defeat of Wigan at Queen Street Conservative Club.
Mark McGeeney led the way, averaging a superb 95.35 for every three darts thrown in an individual
4-1 triumph. The England star’s victory put the town team 6-1 in front.
Paul Cartwright drew first blood for Oldham with a 4-3 win — he averaged 83.52 — before John Downs (4-1, 76.2) doubled the advantage.
It was soon 3-0 to the hosts, thanks to the efforts of David Airey (4-0, 82.08).
Wigan got on the board in game four, only for David Adshead (4-0, 83.11), Lee Williams 4-3, 75.14) and then McGeeney to put the match out of the visitors’ reach.
Dave Rawstron made it seven for Oldham with a comprehensive 4-0 victory, averaging 84.16.
Next up for Oldham is a trip to Blackburn on February 23.
