Pro Beaty puts pupils to the test

CROMPTON and Royton professional Martin Beaty has been making the most of his club’s coveted Clubmark Junior Golf Standard by coaching primary school pupils in the area.
For two months he has coached a group of 60, 10-11 year olds from Alkrington Primary School, visiting the school to run sessions on golf basics, which has been popular.
He followed up by getting pupils to the driving range to develop their skills.
“The progress these pupils made in such a short space of time was phenomenal, especially considering some of them had never held a club before,” he said.
“It also gave many of the pupils a chance to experience a sport they wouldn't normally experience. Staff and pupils can’t wait for me to go back again.”
