FOOTBALL: AVRO stormed into the final of the Manchester FA Challenge Trophy thanks to a 4-2 victory against last season’s beaten finalists Gorse Hill from the Lancashire and Cheshire League.
On the mark for the FBT Manchester League top-flight outfit were Alan Beckett, Dan Cunningham, Lee O’Brien and Sam Rathbone. Jason Edge struck twice for Gorse Hill.
Avro will now take on East Manchester in the Challenge Trophy final.
The match will take place at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium on Friday, March 14 (kick-off 7pm).
