A 21st goal of the season from Michael Moss won bragging rights for Royton Town over Springhead in the Premier Division of the FBT Manchester League at Oldham Academy North.
Moss struck in the 59th minute of a tight, wind-affected contest to secure another three points for Town as Mark Howard’s side – now unbeaten in eight games – moved into second place in the table.
After 90 minutes of action on the wind and rain-lashed 3G surface, Howard was also able to look
forward to a chance of silverware at the end of the season.
He said: “At the start of the season I said that a mid-table position was our aim, but the form we are in right now, then anything could happen. A lot of the teams around us have still to play each other, so let’s see.”
