BASKETBALL:
SADDLEWORTH School is closing in on a clean sweep of local basketball titles.
In the Year Eights Oldham Schools Basketball Cup at the Ball Hall, Saddleworth defeated Blue Coat 24-8 in the final. That impressive victory completed a 100 per cent record for the youngsters, who had earlier won all five of their pool games and swept aside Radclyffe 16-2 in the first semi-final.
Blue Coat overcame Failsworth 4-2 in the other last-four clash. Hulme were placed fifth and Waterhead Academy sixth.
Saddleworth will attempt the ‘full house’ in the Year Sevens tournament on Wednesday, March 12.
