FAILSWORTH’S Danny Wright has been handed the chance to impress England ABA coaches.
With squad places still up for grabs for April’s World Youth Championships in Bulgaria, Boarshaw Gym ace Wright has been selected to represent his country at the prestigious Brandenburg Cup tournament in Frankfurt from February 26-March 2. A good performance in Germany could earn the 17 year old a seat on the plane to Sofia.
The national junior ABA champion, who represented England in a Tri-Nations competition in Wales last summer, said: “When I got the call to say I’d been picked for Frankfurt I was buzzing. It is nice to be rewarded because I have had a good year. Now I’ve got to perform in Frankfurt and try and get into the squad for the Worlds.
The Sofia World youth Championships tournament takes place between April 10 and 25, while the Youth Olympics, in Nianjing, China, is contested between August 23 and 27.
