GOLF:
SADDLEWORTH Golf Club’s David Pullen will take over as president of the Huddersfield and Halifax District Union next month.
The 46 year old, who has been an active member of the union for several years, will become the first Saddleworth-based president in the 46 years of the club’s affiliation.
David was captain at Saddleworth in 2009 when he was first approached about the union presidency.
Pullen is married to active golf organiser Jennifer and has two sons, Steven (23) and Ben (16). The former is an ex-junior player for the Union, while Steven currently turns out for the representative team.
Pullen, who suffered a heart attack five weeks ago, admits his new role is “a bit of a challenge” bearing in mind his recent health issues, but says he is fit enough to take up the post.
“I will be at lots of Union matches from April to October, then there will be a series of dinners to attend,” he said. “I am looking forward to it.”
