OLDHAM’S Premier League side moved another step closer to retaining their title with a comprehensive 71-37 win over Team Bath Toucans.

Oldham put their foot down in the first quarter to race ahead thanks to some slick play through the court into shooters Kathryn Turner and Alice Travis. Turner was running the show in the circle, while Sara Hale and Georgie Webster were making life difficult for the Bath shooters.

The 18-5 quarter-time lead was increased by the mid-way stage, after Hallas opted to switch things round. Maria McAndrew, Malcolm and Webster were restricting the options for Bath and creating numerous turnovers, leaving Oldham with a 36-14 lead at half-time.

Bath came back into it, taking the first six goals of the third. And with one quarter to go, the score was 48-28.

But coach Hallas sent Oldham back on court with renewed energy. The home side quickly pulled away, with some fantastic play from Malcolm and Henry. Bath struggled to keep up, as Hale and Webster picked up some great intercepts in defence.
