RUGBY:
HOLLINWOOD, who finished just below mid-table in Division Five of the Pennine League, go to Oldham St Anne’s on Saturday in the first round of the Standard Challenge Cup.
After two wash-outs, it will amount to Saints’ only warm-up game before the National Conference League season gets under way on March 1. Kick-off at Higginshaw Road is 2pm.
Saints coach Mick Fogerty will be hoping to take a first look at new signings Mick Diveney, Craig Highton and Alan Williamson.
Fitton Hill Bulldogs, from the North-West Men’s League, tackle NCL outfit and holders Waterhead at Fields New Road on Sunday (11am). The winners of both ties will face each other in the semi-finals, while the other last-four clash features Rochdale Mayfield versus Saddleworth Rangers.
Meanwhile, the Oldham Amateur League has shown its support to Waterhead teenager Adam Davies, who has been selected for the BARLA Young Lions tour to Malta, by making a donation towards his expenses in recognition of his achievement.
