Chaddy endure agonising late loss

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:
Chadderton suffered last-ditch heartbreak on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at Atherton LR in the North-West Counties League First Division.
After a goalless first half, John Roberts broke the deadlock when he scored for the hosts in the 55th minute.
Matty Russell’s 92nd-minute equaliser — his 21st goal of the season — looked like it was to secure a well-earned point for Chaddy, only for Kristian Holt to win the game for LR with the last kick of the game.
Chaddy joint-boss Mark Cook said: “We couldn’t believe it because we had bossed the game.
“It was a another frustrating day. We just need to start putting teams away when they are on the rack. If we had done that more often this season, then I’m convinced we would be sat in the top five now. “
Chaddy have signed Rob Flint from Evo-Stik League outfit Padiham.
Locally based, Flint has been a long-time target of Cook and his joint manager Steve Patterson.
OLDHAM Boro lost 3-0 at Hanley Town. On target for the hosts were Joel Stair, Noel Grice and Jacob Vernon.
Boro return to league action on Wednesday night when they travel to Eccleshall.
Chadderton’s next match is at home against Hanley Town on Tuesday, March 4.
MOSSLEY had no Evo-Stik League fixture, but they did host FC Halifax Town in a friendly.
The Yorkshire visitors won 1-0 at Seel Park thanks to Matty Pearson’s first-half strike.
The Lilywhites are at home to Trafford on Wednesday in the Manchester Premier Cup semi-finals.
