OLDHAM Hulmeians remain firmly in the Lancashire Amateur League Division One promotion hunt thanks to a 2-0 home victory against Mostonians.
The visitors had led the Maroons by nine points before the game, but with Hulmeians having four games in hand, the win sees Oldham definitely in title contention.
The first half was a tightly-contested affair as Mostonians found a stubborn and solid Hulmeians back five in their way. But on the hour some superb passing football from Hulmeians was rewarded.
The ball was moved wide to ex-Hollinwood winger Chris Ollerton, who cut inside and bent a sublime, curling 25-yard strike into the top left-hand corner of the goal.
The Maroons then responded to a great Mostonians chance with the killer second goal.
Gareth Hill collected the ball, beat two defenders and slipped past a third before chipping the ball into the Mostonians net.
