FOOTBALL: BLUE Club climbed to second place in Division Three of the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League following an emphatic victory over 10-man White House at Cathedral Road.
After entering the league four years ago, the team has struggled, achieving only mid-to-lower table finishes. Elevation to Division Two for the Chadderton-based side is the aim, but much of that will depend on the fortunes of fellow promotion-hopefuls Cartshaft and High Crompton Victoria, each of whom have a considerable number of games in hand.
It was always going to be a backs-to-the-wall affair for poor White House, who are still the only team in the league not to win this season and kicked off here with only 10 men.
Josh Parkinson swooped to fire Blue Club into the lead after just 12 minutes, and the team, in no mood to play nice, went on to find the net seven more times.
