Non-league football: JOINT-manager Peter Band has warned his players to avoid complacency as Mossley home in on Evo-Stik Division One North safety.
It’s been a season of peaks and troughs for the Lilywhites under Band and Lloyd Morrison, who took over from Steve Halford last summer.
Mossley are now 12 points clear of Wakefield in the second and final relegation spot, ahead of the Yorkshire side’s visit to Seel Park tomorrow.
A Mossley victory would go a long way towards safety with only eight games to go after tomorrow, but Band won’t accept any slacking against a Wakefield outfit that has won only six games all season.
Band said: “We’ve picked up a bit just lately, but even though we might be playing quite well, I don’t want our players to be turning up and saying ‘oh, it’s only Wakefield so we’ll be okay’.
“They have not been doing too badly themselves recently so we’ll have to be on our guard.
“We need to be getting the necessary points on the board to secure our safety sooner rather than later.”
CHADDERTON face a stiff North-West Counties League First Division test at second-placed Formby.
Chaddy have enjoyed an encouraging first season under joint bosses Steve Patterson and Mark Cook, but they will be keen to bounce back from the disappointment of Monday’s 1-0 home loss to Hanley Town.
OLDHAM BORO have no fixture tomorrow. Tony Mills’ side are back in action on Monday when they host Nelson.
