PRIZE WINNERS: Pete Wild (left) and Dorothy Shirley-Emerson at the launch of the 2014 onefuture Oldham Sports Awards at the Oldham Academy North, alongside Steve Kilroy, onefuture Sports Awards steering committee member.
Nominations are now wanted for the 2014 onefuture Oldham Sports Awards.
Always a huge night on the Oldham sporting calendar, the awards evening will be on July 11 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall — the last event there before it is set to be renovated as part of the Hotel Future project.
Almost 400 guests, ranging from national and international sporting superstars to humble Oldham-based volunteers, lapped up last year’s show.
There will be nine main award categories again this year. They are Contribution to School Sport, Disabled Sports Achiever, Volunteer of the Year, Physical Activity Recognition, Sports Achiever, Coach of the Year, Young Volunteer, Club of the Year and Unsung Hero.
Last year Oldham Athletic Academy Manager Tony Philliskirk was also presented with a Special Recognition for Services to Sport award after years of dedicated service at Boundary Park.
Each Oldham winner goes on to represent the borough at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.
