Non-league football: MOSSLEY’S joint-manager pairing of Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison have already started planning for the 2014-15 season.

This season has been one of transition at Seel Park after former boss Steve Halford moved to Ashton United on the eve of the season. But after a shaky start Mossley sit relatively comfortably in lower mid-table.

Band is confident that better times will return: “We’ve already started thinking about next season.

“Most of the current players have indicated they’ll be staying, which is good. So by the time we’ve made three or four decent additions in the summer, we’ll have a really strong squad.

“We’ve been going to games looking at players, from our level down to the local Sunday leagues. There’s always a few gems to be found at Sunday level.

“A proper pre-season will help this time, too. We lost a lot of lads last summer and were forced to almost throw a team together.”

Mossley host Harrogate Railway Athletic tomorrow and a win would leap-frog them above their opponents in the table.

CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO could do with home wins. Chaddy threw away a two-goal lead last weekend when they drew 2-2 with Widnes Vikings — the sixth game without a win.
Boro are in need of goals as they try to move away from the lower reaches of the table.

They host mid-table AFC Darwen, and Boro go into the game having scored just three goals in their previous eight games.
