Non-league football:

WAYNE Welbeck bagged a second-half double to help Mossley to a 2-0 home victory against Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Welbeck – older brother of Manchester United and England striker Danny – pounced four minutes after the restart to put the Lilywhites on their way. He wrapped up a well-deserved outcome with 20 minutes to go. The three points lifted Mossley to 15th.

Mossley are at home again on Saturday, against second-placed Warrington Town.

CHADDERTON came from a goal behind to earn a point as they hosted Holker Old Boys in the North-West Counties League First Division.

Veteran Dave Swarbrick fired Old Boys into an 18th-minute lead, but Chaddy levelled through Daniel Murray two minutes before half-time.

The hosts had chances to win the game in the second half, but the Cumbrians hung on for a 1-1 draw.

Chaddy, who remain in 10th place, host fellow mid-table outfit Ashton Town tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

Oldham Boro’s scheduled home game against AFC Darwen was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They are next in action tomorrow when they face the long trek to Holker for an away fixture against the Old Boys.

Boro have drafted in Matt Knowles from Bacup and Rossendale Borough following a swap deal which has seen Steve Bancroft move in the opposite direction.
