Mossley planning an upset

MOSSLEY should have nothing to fear tomorrow despite welcoming Evo-Stik League Division One North’s second-placed side Warrington Town.

Warrington had been going head-to-head with Curzon Ashton for the one available automatic promotion spot almost all season.

However, Shaun Reid’s side’s recent slump has seen them slip 12 points shy of Curzon, and they have played a couple of games more.

Warrington lost at home against Ossett Town on Tuesday night.

By contrast, the Lilywhites have recently hit better form, so joint-boss Peter Band is looking forward to testing his side against big-spending Town at Seel Park.

Band said: “I don’t really know what’s happened to Warrington lately, but it’s Curzon’s title to lose now.

“Hopefully we can help them even more tomorrow.

“We’re in good form. Warrington have just got some average players on stupid money, so we’re definitely capable of beating them.

“In the last six games we’ve won three, drawn two and lost the other. It could so easily have been 16 points from those 18 available, though.

“We’ve got seven games left now and the aim is to reach the top 10.

“The squad is settling down, and that offers me and Lloyd Morrison plenty of encouragement as we start to think about next season.”

Tom Pratt is available again after shaking off his recent injury, but Lewis Nightingale is still doubtful.

BOTH Chadderton and Oldham Boro are inactive tomorrow.

Boro return to their North-West Counties League First Division campaign on Monday when they host AFC Darwen, while Chaddy travel to Darwen on Wednesday (both 7.45pm kick-offs).
