NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:

JOHN Bennett’s wonder strike earned gutsy Mossley a 2-2 draw against Evo-Stik League Division One North high-fliers Warrington Town.

The improving Lilywhites faced another huge test of character as they welcomed Shaun Reid’s

second-placed side, but they gave as good as they at Seel Park and were good value for their point.

All the goals came in a frantic second half.

Town went in front after 65 minutes when former Southport and Droylsden hit-man Ciaran Kilheeney fired past Lilywhites skipper Russ Saunders. But the scores were levelled soon after when sub Brian Matthews struck.

It looked as though Town would go on to secure victory after skipper Craig Robinson made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute, but the Lilywhites roared back to earn a share of the spoils in some style.

Man-of-the-match Bennett picked up a loose ball some 35 yards from goal and smashed a quite superb effort past a stunned Josh Ollerenshaw.

Mossley are back in action tonight when they travel to take on relegation-threatened New Mills (7.45pm)
