Westwood homing in on title success

FOOTBALL: WESTWOOD FC are closing in on the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League David Giblin Division One title after thumping Springhead Libs ‘A’ 6-1.

Only Oldham GPO can deny Westwood now as Al Amin (two), Abdul Hannan, Asa Davis, Nurez Zaman and Abdul Hussein sunk Springhead. Darren McKenzie replied for the Libs.

Rifle Range ‘B’ had Jacob Davis and Nathan Barker on target in a 2-1 victory at Carrion Crow, for whom Adam Biggins netted.

In Martin Buckley Division Two, Ashley Rogerson, Niall Yates and Jamie Clarke scored for Royton Athletic in a 3-0 win against White Hart.

Champions High Crompton Victoria showed their Division Three class as they crushed White House 7-0.

Registering were Michael McCabe (three), John Ryder (two), Nick Campbell and Martin Hall.

Alt Athletic beat The Dog 6-1 thanks to strikes from Curtis Norris (three), Justin Andrews (two) and Liam Tupman.

John Clarke scored for The Dog.

Cartshaft beat Oldham FC 3-1 as Luke Hargreaves, Eddie Aspin and Chris McDonald struck.

Laco Chimponda scored for Oldham.

Limeside King George progressed to the last four of the Challenge Cup after they beat Rifle Range ‘A’ 2-1 in the replayed battle of the top flight’s top two.

Joe Heap and Warren Berry scored for King George, with Leighton Stephenson hitting back for Range.

In the Premier Division Shield, Crompton House Old Boys had O’Connell (two), Brown and Ollerton on the mark in a 4-2 win against Jolly Carter.

Dominic Hallum’s solitary strike was enough for Dog and Partridge to see off Oldham GPO in the Division One Shield.

Failsworth Athletic were the big winners in the Supplementary Cup as they thumped All Stars 10-1 in Group ‘E’.
