FORMER Royton professional Ben Dunk has scooped the top individual award for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
The opening batsman, who starred in the CLL last season, was voted by club members as the ‘most valuable player’, polling 553 votes to pip former Aussie Test wicketkeeper Tom Payne (317) and Ben Laughlin (208) to the prize as the team made it to the Big Final for the first time.
Dunk’s stellar season in the short format had earlier seen him claim the league’s player of the tournament award.
