BOXING:
ANDY Kremner will take the positives from an unconvincing performance on his professional debut.
The Delph welterweight hopeful took on Birmingham journeyman Jason Nesbitt on the ‘Young Guns’ show at the Wythenshawe Forum and laboured to a 59-57 victory in six tough, two-minute rounds.
Kremner enjoyed the debut experience and entered the ring in a suit, bow tie and top hat; but once the action started he found the 10-11 stone division hard going.
Kremner said: “I think the scores were wrong as everyone could see I’d won the first five rounds, but I just found it hard going against a much bigger man.
“As daft as it might sound it was still one of the best days of my life. But I realise now I’ve just got so much to learn.
“In many ways it was a perfect first fight for me – now I know so much more of what pro boxing is all about.”
