RUGBY: COACH Chris Hough has a simple reason for Waterhead’s recent upturn in fortunes.
“The lads have got smiles on their faces,” said the half-back. “They are enjoying their rugby and enjoying each other’s company.”
Two victories have placed the Peach Road outfit among a group of four clubs on four points in Division Two of the Kingstone Press National Conference League. After a weekend off, Waterhead returns to action at Elland tomorrow.
Hough was glad of the mini-break, explaining: “We were nursing a few a bumps and bruises, so it was an ideal opportunity to regroup.”
OLDHAM St Anne’s saw their run of four straight wins in Division Two come to an abrupt end at Pilkington Recs. Saints were 12 points down against Recs at half-time and lost 34-0.
Seven days on, Mick Fogerty’s side welcome mid-table Castleford Panthers to Higginshaw Road.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers also had a chance to rest weary bones last weekend — but it is business as usual tomorrow. The men from Shall Hall Bank Road play host to fourth-bottom Dewsbury Celtic.
Rangers’ previous outing at brought a 40-24 defeat at local rivals Rochdale Mayfield.
