Oldham can hold their heads high

A GLANCE at the final score suggests this was a one-sided game: four tries to nil, lots of possession for the winning side and a comprehensive victory for the North Lancashire Division One champions.
It wasn’t quite like that, though. De La Salle were worthy of their victory, but Oldham had the Salford side worried for long periods and did everything but cross the whitewash for a try.
Oldham gave their all and matched their opponents in many areas of the game, but there is nothing like winning to inspire confidence and De La Salle had an abundance of it.
De La Salle make very few mistakes for a team at this level and were just too clinical for their hosts.
Both teams had a player sin-binned before the interval before confusion in the Oldham back line led to a further converted try for De La Salle and a 14-0 half-time scoreline.
The second half started brightly for Oldham when Callum Megram converted a penalty, but confidence was beginning to flow from the visitors and converted tries after 65 and 77 minutes completed the scoring.
The whole Oldham team were able to hold their heads high.
