North aim to go one better

GOLF: NORTH Manchester will be looking to drop the bridesmaids tag in this season’s Oldham and District Golf League cup and plate competitions.
The Rhodes-based club were losing finalists in both ‘A’ and ‘B’ knock-out events last season — to Ashton and Stamford respectively — and the draws have now been made for this season’s clashes.
Their ‘A’ team go to neutral venue Oldham to face Werneth while the North ‘B’ outfit meet Oldham at Blackley.
The 2014 league season, which sees North and Stamford defending the league titles, begins in two weeks’ time.
ROY Taylor had a hole-in one during Brookdale’s Easter professional’s competition on Sunday.
The winner of the Division Two prize achieved his ace at the par-three seventh hole.
A FLAG competition at Crompton and Royton was won by Margaret Hornby, who finished four feet from the pin on the 18th green.
o Saddleworth played a Greensome Stableford and the clear winners with 40 points were Sybil Bate and Fiona Hesten, three clear of Jean Lowe and Brenda Gates.
