Double figures for rampant Old Boys

FOOTBALL: MARK Hopwood and Chris Ollerton both bagged hat-tricks for Crompton House Old Boys as they crushed White House 10-1 in a Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League Supplementary Cup Group ‘C’ clash.

Jonny Pauley (two) and Scott Rowbottom (two) completed the Old Boys’ tally, while David Riley responded for White House.

In Group ‘A’, Asa Davies and Noor Islam registered for Westwood FC as they beat Blue Club 2-0.

Harrison’s double wasn’t enough for White Hart in Group ‘C’ as they lost 3-2 against Limeside Athletic.

In Group ‘E’, Daniel Fitzhugh (two), Lee Harrison, Jamie Shaw and Ashley Grant netted for Carrion Crow as they saw off Oldham FC 5-2.

Andrew Benson and Daniel Jackson scored for Oldham.



IT’S been a week of mixed fortunes for Diggle in Division One of the Huddersfield League.

At the weekend they had a terrific 6-0 win at Hepworth United before slipping to an agonising 3-2 defeat at leaders Berry Brow on Tuesday.

The midweek result saw Diggle slip seven points adrift of top side Bery Brow, who can no longer be caught. Both teams have two games remaining.

Also in Division One, Uppermill were crushed 7-0 at home by Newsome and are now 10th.

Heyside romped to an excellent 4-1 win at Slaithwaite United in Division Four.

The Oldham outfit are 10 points shy of divisional leaders Holmfirth Town, with three games left to play.



MIDAS Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League outfit Limeside King George are through to the final of the North West Champion of Champions Cup following a 2-1 semi-final success against Chaddy End Old Boys.

Will Buckley fired Limeside into a 21st-minute lead, before Andrew Stafford made it 2-0 ten minutes after half-time.

Sean Roscoe pulled a goal back for the Rochdale Sunday League side with just ten minutes remaining, but Limeside comfortably held on.



WHALLEY Range are closing in on their sixth successive Lancashire and Cheshire League Premier Division title after two hard-earned 2-0 victories moved them to within three points of long-time leaders AFC Oldham with four games to play.

Range’s first victory in midweek came at in-form Mellor as clinical finishing gave them the edge in a close contest.

They repeated the scoreline at Newton with a Liam Bennion brace doing the business for the visitors.

AFC Oldham completed a successful season with a 3-3 draw in an entertaining game at Mellor.
