CRICKET: COCK-A-HOOP after their opening-day victory at Clifton, Royton know they will have to produce an even stronger performance to win at home to Littleborough on Sunday.
Denny Hulme’s side made a winning start to life in the CLL Premier Division, but the visit of the team led by Clinton Perren will provide a stern test.
Boro overwhelmed a traditionally-strong Heywood side at Hare Hill last weekend and will fancy their chances of following up at the Paddock.
Werneth were put to the sword by Norden on the same day and the loss of all rounder Joe Taylor for the season will have set them back on their heels.
But skipper Matt Taylor will rally his troops and Werneth will have to heed his words if they are to get anything from a visit to reigning champions Walsden.
Crompton made a fine start to their Championship campaign with victory at Middleton and Sunday’s visit of Monton and Weaste gives them the chance to enhance their early claims for honours.
Oldham, meanwhile, did not fare at all badly at Monton last weekend and will have high hopes at home to Radcliffe.
