CRICKET: JOSH Butler was in devastating form on his debut for Woodhouses as they cruised to victory on the opening day of the Greene King Lancashire County League season.
Batting first, hosts Prestwich were bowled out for 101 with Butler returning nine wickets for 37 runs.
In reply, Woodhouses eased to 102 for four, with Chris Reeves top-scoring on 41 not out.
IT was a mixed weekend for Delph in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership as they followed Saturday’s first defeat of the season by beating Elland at Huddersfield Road yesterday.
Elland took first knock and reached 205 for eight, with Craig Fletcher the leading wicket-taker as he returned fine figures of five for 77.
Delph got home for the loss of six wickets: Jamshad Ahmad scored 56, Arron Lilley 50 and Fletcher completed a fine personal effort as he saw his side home with an unbeaten 52.
On Saturday Delph were bowled out for 170 (Greg Buckley 43), in reply to Scholes’ 219 for eight.
