SNOOKER: FAILSWORTH snooker star Dean Sheridan hit back from 4-1 down to beat Moorside’s Michael Wild 5-4 in a superb Manchester Snooker Open final.
Sheridan was a worthy winner of the £300 top prize while Wild received £150.
Though Wild led 1-0 courtesy of a 48 break, Sheridan levelled with a run of 93.
But Wild took the next three frames with breaks of 82, 74 and 93, and victory looked a formality for the Moorside man.
Sheridan wasn’t about to throw in the towel and took the next two frames with breaks of 121 and 56.
A tactical eighth frame went to Sheridan and in the decider, the Failsworth ace registered a break of 68 to clinch victory. Wild had the consolation of the competition’s highest-break prize — a run of 132.
