ANGLING: MONARCH AC’s latest members-only match on the club water was a super event.
Weights were quite amazing as winner Craig Bradford scaled 29lb 3oz of ide, skimmers and roach, which all fell to pole and maggot.
Geoff Carr was second with his caster approach working well to the tune of 28lb 2oz of ide and roach, beating Dave White into third with 19lb 4oz of skimmers, ide and chub that fell to pole and pellet.
PETE Mottram took first place in the latest Todmorden AS members-only match on an impressive Croft Fishery.
Drawn on peg 17, Mottram fished worm for 35lb of carp, beating Chris Oliver who was second with his peg four throwing up a decent 28lb 7oz net of carp taken on the tip, waggler and pellet.
THE Old Hough Farm Fishery open took place on Upper Benbo where North-West match legend Ray Rigby took first place with 67lb 11oz of carp that fell to corn at 14 metres.
Rob Asher was second with a similar mix of fish that weighed in at 59lb 3oz.
Failsworth’s Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) continued his good run on the water with a third-best 39lb 15oz of mostly carp taken on paste at nine metres, moving across to 16 metres with corn.
THE Middlewich teams of four league on the Trent and Mersey Canal is throwing up some incredible weights, with 20lb of skimmers and roach winning from a peg in the basin, followed by another double-figure weight from the same area. Tri-Cast Highfield have consolidated their place in third.
MY pleasure session on the Tenterfields length of the Rochdale Canal was a cracker with the three hours fishing resulting in a super net of roach and a solitary pike. I was with two of my former Halifax team-mates – Richard Taylor and Eric Green – and they were catching roach on punch and some decent perch on caster so I was expecting a few bites.
