FOOTBALL: IF Limeside seems a little quiet on Monday it will be because Limeside King George aim to become only the second Oldham-based team to win the North-West Sunday Champions’ Cup when they meet Moss Side in the final at Abbey Hey FC (11am kick-off).

Though several Oldham sides have featured in Champions’ Cup finals down the years, only one club has ever won it. That was in the late 1970s when Royton outfit Church Inn were 4-2 winners against Ravens (Radcliffe).

Limeside are on course for a magnificent double, having also fought their way to the Oldham Sunday League’s Challenge Cup final at Boundary Park on Thursday, May 8.

FBT Manchester League Premier Division action saw Springhead lose by the odd goal in seven when hosting East Manchester.

In Division One, Hollinwood and Uppermill continue to struggle as the season draws to a close.

Hollinwood were thumped 5-1 at Elton Vale, while Uppermill lost 3-1 at home against Leigh Athletic.

Springhead bagged the derby honours in Division Two, as their second string beat their Hollinwood counterparts 9-1.

HEYSIDE kept alive their Huddersfield League Division Two promotion hopes thanks to a 4-0 win at Cumberworth.

The visitors surged to victory in the second period thanks to goals from Corey Eastmond, Andrew Fulham, Matthew Crothers and Jeff Chun.

Following a 10-game unbeaten run (seven wins and three draws), 3D Dynamos’ second string clinched promotion from Reserves Division Four.

The Dynamos wrapped up their season with a comfortable 2-0 home win against Thornhill United.
