UPPERMILL ruined the remaining 100 per cent record in Division One of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League with a three-wicket success at home to Stayley.
James Baron’s figures of four for 56 helped restrict the visitors, who had an eye on a fourth straight victory, to 196 for nine.
In reply, wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Griffiths struck his second consecutive half-century (61) and Michael Brooks made an unbeaten 54. Opener Brooks batted for 43.3 overs.
Professional Shadley van Schalkwyk hit 51 not out and Steve Firth compiled 60 as reigning champions Heyside beat hosts Greenfield by four wickets.
Van Schalkwyk also made a big impact with the ball at Ladhill Lane, claiming seven for 45 which included a hat-trick.
He removed Rothwell, Jones and Ainley in consecutive balls. But he was unable to oust Greenfield skipper Alex Peters, who held his side together with an unbeaten 112 batting at number three.
Knocks of 73 and 59 from Michael Schofield and Matt Halliday respectively secured a six-wicket victory for in-form Droylsden over Hollinwood at Oakfield.
Paid man Grant Hodnett posted 80 not out as Moorside beat Micklehurst by nine wickets at Turf Pit Lane, and Saddleworth bounced back from a first loss of the campaign with a 130-run trouncing of South West Manchester. Darren Shadford was top scorer with 85 for the Well-i-Hole men.
There were also wins for Glodwick, Shaw and Wythenshawe.
