SATURDAY’S Saddleworth League programme was plagued by rain, although Glodwick managed to complete their innings at Wythenshawe.
Anees Ur Rehman struck 48 in a score of 180 for nine from 44 overs. Play was interrupted on several occasions, leaving Wythenshawe a revised target of 156 from 36 overs. Only two overs were possible and the match was abandoned after another cloudburst.
Greenfield were 14 for no wicket after three overs against Micklehurst and Whalley Range’s openers had reached 13 off four at home to Stayley when rain brought a premature end to proceedings.
No play was possible in the other five matches in Division One.
Moorside managed to force a seven-wicket victory at South West Manchester in Division Two, after dismissing the hosts for 69. Anthony Redmond claimed five for 20.
Danny Clayton dodged the showers to hit 102 in Micklehurst’s total of 199 for four at home to Greenfield, after which there was no further play because of the weather.
DELPH and Woodhouses had their weekend matches washed out.
Delph's home Heavy Woollen Cup second-round tie against Golcar, which should have been played
yesterday, will now take place on Sunday, June 1.
Grant Jones's men saw Saturday's Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership clash against Kirkburton cancelled without a ball being bowled, the same fate which Woodhouses suffered in their home fixture against current Greene King Lancashire County League champions Denton West.
