WATER TORTURE . . . Heyside Cricket Club pro Shadley van Schalkwyk’s efforts to clear water off the outfield at Little Hey Street were in vain last night.
CRICKET:
Saturated outfields meant no play was possible in any of the five remaining Tanner Cup ties last night.
With an improved forecast today, Heyside (157 all out) and Friarmere are on course to conclude their first-round tie so, too, Moorside and Shaw (125 all out).
Games at Austerlands (v Saddleworth), Glodwick (v Droylsden) and Micklehurst (v Greenfield) should get underway.
Matches in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s showpiece knock-out competition start at 6.30pm.
