Angling: DIGGLE AC’s Tuesday match was a patchy affair with the fish concentrated in certain areas.

Most struggled for bites, but the winner was Bob Dac with a massive 62lb 4oz net of 16 carp taken on pole and pellet from peg 16.

Second, a fair way behind, was Steve Hall with a chopped worm and caster-tempted 24lb 4oz net that was made up of the odd silver and half a dozen carp.

THE Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake saw Billy Brierley catch from start to finish, with maggot fished at 13 metres netting him 17lb 5oz of skimmers, tench, perch and roach.

Fred Prudham wasn’t far behind as he fished waggler and pole with maggot on the hook to catch a 2lb bream plus plenty of skimmers, tench, chub and roach for 16lb 7oz.

Tony Simcock won the next match with his 12lb 11oz catch made up of skimmers, chub, roach and perch that fell to maggot placed at 13 metres from peg 28.

JOHN Mellor took first place in the Todmorden AS away match at Lindholme Lakes where he weighed in 67lb 5oz of carp, beating Steve Buckley into second place with 61lb 8oz.

THE Slaithwaite AC Alan Bedford memorial match was well attended as 45 turned up at the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

There were some cracking weights, but if you weren’t on fish you struggled for bites as bright sunny conditions and clear water meant a tough session.

The winner was Dave Taylor with his peg below the lock on Cottons solid with skimmers, and he caught plenty of them on caster, tipping 25 onto the scales to weigh in 30lb 4oz.

Second was Andy Turner with his 19lb of skimmers falling to pole and caster from his peg on the apple yards length.
