Dog and Partridge 1, Rifle Range B 4

CLASS and guile saw Rifle Range B clinch the Midas Plumbing and Heating Supplies Oldham Sunday League First Division Shield at Chadderton FC.

Lone striker Nathan Barker led the Range forward line with maturity, time and again gliding along the Dog and Partridge defence to receive what seemed like an endless stream of passes.

Barker opened the scoring with a neat finish from 12 yards after 10 minutes.

Callum Standring, who netted the second Range goal seven minutes later, showed his class with a polished and hard-working display in midfield.

Mitchell Clegg fired home with the last kick of the first half and Range were in cruise control, though Dog at least had the consolation of scoring the best goal of the game when Peter Damerumis’ 20-yard drive flew into the top corner.

Barker almost scored his second with two minutes to go, but his dipping volley was superbly beaten away by Gary Haughton in the Dog goal.

But Dylan Ault made absolutely sure for Range with the last action of the match when he crashed the ball home from 16 yards.
