WATER FIASCO: conditions at Shaw Hall Bank Road descended into farce on Saturday as heavy rain pounded the pitch with Saddleworth Rangers dominating their match against Eccles. Paul Sterritt’s spectacular picture shows Gareth Morgan splashing over for a try. The National Conference League Division One fixture was abandoned with Rangers leading 24-0.
RUGBY: THERE was acute disappointment for Saddleworth Rangers as their home Kingstone Press National Conference League Division One clash against Eccles was abandoned at half-time due the the amount of surface water on the pitch.
Shane Tupaea’s men were 24-0 up when the referee called the match off at the interval.
In Division Two, Waterhead edged out Leigh East 18-16, but Oldham St Anne’s lost 44-12 at Askam.
