SADDLEWORTH Rangers missed out on a potentially priceless victory when their home Kingstone Press National Conference League Division One clash against Eccles was abandoned at half-time.
The hosts got the game off to a terrific start but down came the rain, leaving conditions unplayable by the interval. Rangers were seemingly in control at 24-0, but the result is unlikely to stand.
In NCL Division Two, Waterhead eased into the relative comfort of mid-table thanks to a tense 18-16 home victory against Leigh East.
Darren Nixon’s late try, added to by Jamie Mayall’s third conversion, clinched Waterhead’s win.
Danny Maher and Nixon had crossed earlier for Waterhead, while East had led thanks to a try and two goals from Ryan Peters and touchdowns from Josh Connor and Ryan Holcroft.
