NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY AFC are expanding next season with the addition of five new teams alongside the existing Evo-Stik NPL first team.
The club is merging with Mossley Athletic Junior Football Club, which will bring its under-sevens, eights, 10s and 12s sides under the Lilywhite banner.
The club is also planning an open-aged women’s team to play as Mossley AFC from the start of the 2014-15 season.
This merger is hoped to be the start of bigger things: the club has ambitions to expand, to obtain the FA’s Charter Standard award as a community club.
Mossley secretary Harry Hulmes said: “The club is delighted to bring the junior and women’s teams on board. We are confident the partnership will be a great step forward, not only for players of all abilities but for the town as a whole.”
The merger gives a solid football base for all players, coaches and volunteers to progress, with in particular a potential pathway for junior players to the first team.
