Ace Keegan is sky-high
Date published: 20 June 2014
ANGLING:
IN-form Danny Keegan netted another win in the Todmorden AS away match on Skylark Lake at the Woodlands Fishery.
Keegan netted139lb 3oz of carp, easily beating the next angler by doubling his weight. Graham Mallinson was second on the day with 63lb 1oz of carp, skimmers and bream .
Keegan then won the latest Todmorden AS Tuesday match on Townhouse. His pole and pellet attack worked to the tune of 48lb 12oz of carp. Rob McKendry was second with his 34lb 1oz catch of carp also falling to the pole and pellet.
THE midweek Diggle AC match on Tanner’s Dam saw Chris Butterworth triumphant, with his peg 15 producing five carp on meat to weigh in 19lb 4oz.
That was just 5oz in front of Steve Hall’s 18lb 15oz catch that fell to his usual chopped worm and caster approach and was made up of three carp and some silvers.
SUCH is the popularity of Old Hough Farm that Saturday’s match had to be split into two, on separate lakes.
The first, on Upper Benbo Lake, was won by Lewis Breeze with 70lb 9oz of carp taken on long pole and caster. That easily beat Mal Dawes into second with 59lb 10oz of mainly f1s that fell to corn and pellet.
The other match was fished on Lower Benbo where former England international Vinnie Smith (TriCast Highfield) took first place with 73lb 3oz of ide taken on chopped worm and caster.
Meanwhile, Dave Machin (Stalybridge Angling Supplies) took first place in the Old Hough Farm open match fished on Boulders Lake. His 54lb 7oz net of f1s was taken on caster fished at full depth at 11 metres.
Failsworth’s Ken Power (TriCast Highfield) fished meat tight to the island and caught three small carp and some barbel for a second-best 48lb.
