CRICKET: OVERSEAS amateur Denis Louis was at his belligerent best as Crompton returned to winning ways with a nine-wicket demolition of Ashton in the Lake Garage CLL Championship.

The West Indian smashed an undefeated 92 in Crompton’s 176 for one in reply to Ashton’s 175 at Glebe Street.

Louis was given excellent support by professional Josh Tolley, unbeaten on 60.

Earlier, Imran Yousaf hit a fine 103 as Ashton posted a decent target. Carl Taylor was Crompton’s most successful bowler, with three for 36.

OLDHAM were hoping to build on their promising Wood Cup display against Norden but reverted to type in a sorry home defeat at the hands of Milnrow.

Milnrow raced to 193 for three in a reduced-overs match at the Pollards. In reply Oldham were skittled for a meagre 83.

Premier Division action saw yet another defeat for WERNETH, despite the best efforts of skipper Matt Taylor. Hosts Littleborough scored 216 for five, a total that proved to be way beyound Werneth’s batsmen, who could find only 149 all out.

ROYTON’S home game against Rochdale fell victim to rain.
