CRICKET: WOODHOUSES skipper Scott Webb has hailed the team effort that has helped to propel the Belfields outfit to third place in the Greene King Lancashire County League table.
A run of convincing victories means ’Houses is in red-hot form, though the side’s credentials will be tested on Saturday by a trip to league leader Denton St Lawrence.
Webb said: “We’ve shown really good progress this year and that’s largely down to the team spirit and work ethic. We had a game plan at the beginning of the season and sticking to it is paying off.
“Everyone has chipped in. We’ve been terrific lately, but DSL will be a tough one.”
Belfields is set to be busy on Sunday as Webb’s team looks to continue its march towards another Lord’s final. Woodhouses has reached the last 16 of the Davidstow Village Cup – a competition the team famously won in 2011 – and will play host to Yorkshire side Sessay from 1.30pm.
DELPH have no Drakes Huddersfield League fixture this weekend - blame the Tour de France.
